About Jasper

Good photography and film come into being the moment you lose control. The right conditions must however be created beforehand. When you have set the right conditions, you let go of the control to achieve the desired goal. A complex theory perhaps, but one that has worked for Jasper Zwartjes since he graduated from the Rietveld Academy. From the moment his first photo rose to the surface of the developing bath, Zwartjes saw the light. And out of the blue there was magic, and the camera made it happen.

Soon after graduating the Rietveld Academy his career went into orbit. Filming is also very much in his blood, which has found an outlet in the form of directing commercials and short films.

Jasper Zwartjes doesn’t believe in coincidences. He just loves to create coincidences. He tries to register that which takes place outside the framework of his subject. Like a still from a movie, directing only the moment. All control lost for an instant. And it’s this instant kick that attracted him to his polaroid and specifically the 8x10 inch. Which became his signature style over the years for his photography.

His client list is long and successful both national and international. But then again, he’s an easy guy to work with, he brings his contagious enthusiasm to the set as well as his technical knowledge of his materials and use of light and years of experience.
